The London Wildlife Trust -
Looks after over 60 wild havens in the capital
Fights to save threatened sites and species
Campaigns for a better deal for wildlife as a a result of developments
Supplies information and advice on wildlife aspects
Works with young people to help them value the natural environment
Organises a programme of walks, events and workdays
It has an
enthusiastic and dedicated staff and council and ambitious plans
for the future
BUT what it desparately lacks is MEMBERS. It has a measly 5000.
By comparison 70,000 Londoners belong to the RSPB (2005 figures).
More members would increase its voice, hopefully its volunteer
force and its unrestricted income (grants and donations can often
only be spent on specific projects).
Membership rates
are currently £24 single (that's less than 50p per week), £30
joint and £39 family
Gift membership is available.
Supporters receive a colour guide plus regular magazines.
